International Women's Day 2019 - Artist's Reception

International Women's Day 2019 - Artist's Reception

When we send out a seed, we never know how it will grow.

When I approached Hannah Lin, Executive Director of the YWCA Muskoka regarding an art show celebrating women in the arts, neither of us could have envisioned the response both from the artists and those who would join us in the celebrations.

We had 21 women submit art including paintings, prints, sculptures, and paper art.  The evening of International Women's Day we gathered together and enjoyed conversation, music and poetry.  The talented Canadian folk singer Beverlie Robertson sang about standing up and making the world a safer place for all.  New friendships were formed and we were reminded of the meaning of International Women's Day with poetry readings, that spoke of the meaning of love, growth and female representation in art.
