"reach for the sky" - a Canadian landscape painting

This magnificent pine grows and reaches for the sun along the shores of Smoke Lake in Algonquin Park, Canada.  As my family and I explored the shores of the lake, the beauty of this pine growing toward the sun really caught my eye. 

Back in my studio, as I reached to paint the tall branches and the expressive clouds on this large canvas, I was reminded of the boldness of this tree.  I'm always impressed by the adversity that trees face; winds, sun, rain, snow, and yet ever grow towards the sun.

Painting this pine on a large canvas was my way of sharing that feeling of freedom and strength with you. Imagine hanging it in your home, and every time you look at it, you're right there by the lake in stunning Algonquin Park, sitting by majestic pines.

My wish is that this piece reminds you to keep reaching for your dreams, just like trees reaching for the sky.
